Friends and family,
JCS is in need of a jr./sr. high school math and/or reading and/or social studies teacher, a jr/sr high Bible teacher, and a couple lower grade elementary school positions. If anybody is interested in teaching next year in the Dominican Republic, please give us an e-mail! Even if it is not God's will for you to be here, please join us in praying that He will place the people He wants in each position.

Weekends in the D. R.
A typical weekend for us consists us usually at least one social get-together, working around the house on Saturday, and church and relaxing on Sunday.
This Friday evening we went to a student's birthday party. The theme was "50's" and we both attempted to dress up. Their was an Elvis impersonating contest, and Daniel won. :) We both had an enjoyable time.
On Saturday we bought groceries for the week, put up valences in our living room/ kitchen, bought the items needed to put up our tarp as an awning (which we'll do next week), and relaxed in the evening with a movie and a homemade Indian dinner.
We attend a Spanish speaking church here, which has helped us greatly with our Spanish. Last Sunday we shared our testimonies at church (in Spanish), because we are planning on becoming members (more on that to come later). We have Sunday school from 9-10 and then the service from 10-11:30 which includes praise time and the sermon. I especially enjoy singing worship songs in Spanish because I'm forced to focus more on the words and meanings.
Well, that's about the extent of our exciting weekend. :) I'm sure our weekends (and weeks) will change drastically after baby arrives!
Oh, and Happy Dominican Mother's Day to all you mothers out there!

New Building
Yesterday a flier was sent home to all the students at JCS announcing that the much-anticipated new building will be built this summer. The new building will for now house the offices, library, computer lab (which we did not have before) and something to the effect of a school nurse. Future plans will add a second floor including a science lab (Yay!!!) and classrooms.
A few building teams will be coming down over the summer to work on construction, and I am sure I (Daniel) will be working on things here and there as they're needed. The catch is that the school is very short of the cost it will take for the new buildings. School parents were asked to donate if they are able anything from a few cinder blocks to an AC unit for the computer lab. If anybody is interested in being a part of the new building, please e-mail us. Please, nobody feel pressured, but I wanted to share this opportunity to give to those who may be interested.
Thanks!

Fun stuffs
Last Monday night we had a feast for our date night. We found packaged gnocchi in Santiago a while ago, and finally ate it with a red sauce and a creamy basil sauce. We also had salad, garlic bread, and tomatoes with fresh basil. To top it all off, we got to eat out on our balcony, dubbing this meal, our "Italian feast on the terrace."
Friday night, Teresa's 4th grade boys came over for pizza and dinner. We had a lot of fun eating, playing games, and me (Daniel) getting climbed all over. One particularly funny part of the evening was doing the penguin dance in honor of Teresa's class reading Mr. Popper's Penguins.
I thought the penguin dance was common knowledge, but apparently these boys had not seen Mary Poppins as many times as I have.
On Sunday we had a JCS family day. It included food, swimming, a clown... and even Barney. We had a fun time and so did the kids!
